Section A: Theoretical Evaluation of Production
In question 1(a) you need to write about your work for the Foundation Portfolio and Advanced Portfolio units and you may refer to other media production work you have undertaken.
1(a) Describe how you developed research and planning skills for media production and evaluate how these skills contributed to creative decision making. Refer to a range of examples in your answer to show how these skills developed over time.
In question 1(b) you need to choose one of your media productions to write about.
1(b) Analyse media representation in one of your coursework productions.
Remember, its a 2 hour exam, so you have effectively 1 hour for section A (30 mins each for Q1a + Q1b).
The sub-context of Q1a is how you developed, or progressed, with your skills over time between the Foundation (AS) and Advanced (A2) productions.
There is no trick to the questions; their phrasing will be quite formulaic. HOWEVER, note that Q1a raises TWO of the DCRUP options, and specifically how one fed into another (how R+P fed into your creativity). The board will not say if Q1a will include two topics, so don't count on it ... but be prepared for it!
